Desert Sage Restaurant in Crestone

A little pricey, but food and service were great.

Great family run restaurant which has served the locals for over a decade!

We stopped in because we were famished, and I'm glad we did. We got a pizza and a chicken dish. The portions were generous and the pesto pizza was far better than I expected! It's a simple place with good food and good service. They even had some mixed drinks and wine.

Really awesome food and friendly staff! The Yak burger was outstanding! They make their own organic french fries too. Bring your hunger... Like the waitress said: "we don't do small here"

Called that day to find out if we needed to make a reservation, as I told Donna, we are coming to our celebrate our anniversary. It was really cute, she had a nice little romantic table set up for us.Evan was our waiter and was delightful. He recommends dishes for us so that’s what I ordered, one chicken and one beef (Shapta). It was a lot of food, came with rice, we chose brown rice. Our vegetables were cooked perfect, the chicken was ok but the beef was way, way, over cooked, it made it very tough. Our dinner choices came with soup or salad. The back room was nicely decorated with lights and great plants. I WOULD go back to try different dishes.

We showed up at 750pm on a saturday night (they closed at 830pm) for dinner and were totally ignored after we were seated. the restaurant was empty, but it was pretty clear they wanted to shut the place down and go home instead of make us dinner. so we walked out and won't return in the future.

Great as always, but everything shows continual improvement every time I visit. Steak was juicy and delicious. A great value proposition.

Excellent cooking in Crestone. Take out for now. I live for the day when we return to normal.

Great place with fun server, Evan, who took special care to make me happy. My medium rare yak burger melted in my mouth and the lemon trout was delicious. Best place around!!!

I was super happy with the Desert Sage. There weren't maybe people for a Friday night. I'm not sure if during the summer it is more crowded. The portions are really healthy. You won't go hungry. The rest of the family didn't finish theirs. A comment on the pizza, they are very heavy handed with the cheese. It is more cheese than anything else. We'll certainly be going back.

Unusual but excellent food in this off the beaten path restaurant. Highly recommend the yak meatloaf and Momos.

Good food, medium priced. Interesting menu from Butanese chef, as well as traditional American food.

Desert Sage is Crestone's nicest restaurant. We sat on the patio, which had great ambience. The atmosphere was lovely... everyone seemed to be friendly and having a great time.. staff and clients alike. Great location. As far as food, I got the Harmony Bowl, which was pretty good. The sauce was excellent.

What I loved: the Salmon Eggs benedict - you can tell the eggs were local because the sauce was soooo lovely.Location is fantastic, tons of parking Great location but a bit outside of "town"Overall the food is good. - the hashbrowns definitely need some attention - but that could be because i love crunchy hashbrowns rather than soggy.

Ate Sunday brunch here, and it was okay. Had pancakes and bacon, the pancakes were fine, but 3 of the 4 pieces of bacon werent as thick or good as the 4th. Coffee was good, service was good, just nothing amazing. If you need a bite to eat, this will do fine.

Consistently quality food and management with many years of great service to our community. I love the chipotle chicken and would suggest anything on the menu. Great atmosphere is the perfect place to bring visitors and family everyday or special occasions.

The Desert Sage has been a Crestone tradition for decades, and it's in expert hands with its current ownership! The food and service are excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect for a mountain vacay. They provided vegetarian options for my private function, gave incredible service, and were so very helpful in the planning. The restaurant is comfortable, spacious, and cozy.
